Binding

On the "Binding" tab in the Properties dialog box for elements, you can define the element's display value. There are a number of options available for this, which are described below.

First, select the desired control type for the display. Then set the display value.

The element displays the default values. You can find out how to define default values here.

More

Persistently store data per user using "appUserProfile"

Under the "More" option, you'll find a drop-down list of binding types to which you can assign values.

AppUserProfile can be used in a similar way to a system data group —only it is user-specific. This way, you can, for example, control views based on the user. In principle, it works like a shared state or a session variable, except that the data is available persistently.

Specification

Default values are used when the binding does not return a value.

To define default values for the display, select the "For new records" or "For existing records" checkbox to define a default value for new or existing records, respectively.

Clicking "Edit Default Value" under " " opens a dialog box where you can set the default value. You can find more information here.

Using " " > "Apply Default Value," you can easily apply predefined default values. For example, if you have defined a default value for new records, you can apply it to existing records by clicking the arrow button.

For some elements, such as the radio button, you won't find an option in the binding to set a default value. Values are usually already defined in the configuration for these elements, so no empty data records are created.

Selection List, List Box, and Dynamic View

The binding settings for the "Drop-down List," "List Box," and "Dynamic View" elements differ in some respects from the available settings for other elements—depending on where the entries in the list elements come from.

Entries from applications, user-defined values, and special value sources

If, on the "Entries" tab in the Properties dialog box for "Drop-down List" or "List Box," or "Dynamic View," the options "Values from Applications," "User-Defined Values," or "Special Value Sources" have been selected, the usual binding options are available here. You can find all the information here.

Binding for Entries from References

If the "Values from References" option has been selected on the "Entries" tab, you will find the following options and settings in this dialog box:

No link

With this setting, the list item has no binding.

Reference

No further settings are required. The element is linked to the reference selected on the "Entries" tab.

More

Additional bindings can be defined here. You can find all the information here.
