Search Engine

Select the search engine you want here. The Apache Solr connector is included as part of the standard delivery.

Starting with Intrexx 12.0.1, OpenSearch / Elasticsearch can also be used for searches.

Please note that this is a so-called "preview feature." Preview features may be incomplete or contain errors. Therefore, they may currently be used only in test and development environments so that they can be evaluated accordingly.

Before you use a preview feature, we strongly recommend that you back up your data. INTREXX GmbH makes no warranty whatsoever regarding the functionality or reliability of preview features. The use of preview features is therefore at the user's own risk.

Make the appropriate selection from the "Search Engine" drop-down list. OpenSearch / Elasticsearch is not included in the scope of delivery. We recommend setting up your own installation using the OpenSearch/Elasticsearch Docker image.

If one of the two search adapters is already in use in the portal and is then replaced by another, all indexes created with the previous search adapter are removed before new ones are created. A message to that effect will appear when you click "Apply" after selecting the search engine.

Search Languages

Here is a list of the languages in which you can search for content on the portal.

Add a search language

Opens a dialog box where you can select the language.

Delete search language

Removes a language from the list.

Setting the Default Language

Clicking this button sets the selected search language as the default language.

Hits per page

Here, you can specify the number of results you want to display on the search results page.

Ranking Method

Select the desired ranking method here. In addition to hit quality—that is, the most frequently occurring hits—date weighting can be applied so that more recent hits achieve a higher ranking.

Sorting

Specify how you want the results sorted here. The sorting criteria carry more weight than the ranking method; that is, the selected ranking method may, if necessary, not taken into account. The "Custom" sort option is used for user-defined settings.

Query Strategy

Exact Search

With this strategy, content is searched for based exactly on the search term entered.

Wildcard Search

Allows searching with wildcards (e.g., * for any number of characters or ? for a single character)

Fuzzy Search

With a fuzzy search, the exact character string does not have to be used as the search criterion. Similar strings are also found.

Add a query strategy

Adds a query strategy.

Delete Query Strategy

Removes a query strategy from the list.

Arrow buttons

Changes the order in which the search strategies are applied.

You can enter a search term here to filter the list of autocorrect entries.

Remove filter

Removes the corresponding filter field.

Add

Adds additional fields for terms that filter the list.

"Request" Column

The terms entered in a search are listed here.

"Correction" Column

If a search term is submitted with a potentially incorrect spelling, the results page will display not only the found results but also a note pointing this out, along with the option to click on the correct term and search for it. You can find the correction terms in this column.

"Invalid Requests" Column

Here is a list of the false statements. The maximum number of incorrect entries can be set here.

Remove entry

Removes the currently selected entry from this list.

Discard Changes

Restores the list to its original state.

Click "OK" to save your changes and close the dialog box.

Starting with Intrexx version 12.0.1

Regenerate indexes

The indexes are being rebuilt.

Apply

Clicking this button saves the settings.

Reset

Clicking this button restores the settings to their original state.

Search Suggestions

Search suggestions come from the search index. When you enter a search term that is longer than three characters, they will appear as options below the search field. A search suggestion selected from there is entered into the search field.

Search suggestions are displayed regardless of content permissions because they are drawn from the search index.

Offer suggestions

Here, you can choose whether or not to enable search suggestions.

Apply filters to suggestions

With this setting, search suggestions are filtered according to the exact criteria you have specified in the search configuration in Applications.

Please note that the "Apply filter to suggestions" setting may affect the portal's performance.
