Speedometer

The speedometer is suitable for displaying speeds, sound levels, pressure, temperature, or fill levels.

You can find an example of how to use the Tachometer to display users logged in to the portal in one of our Tips & Tricks posts.

The "Tachometer" application element belongs to the "Images and Files" element category.

You can find the speedometer element in the "Applications" module under "Elements. " You can create a new speedometer by dragging and dropping the element from here onto the workspace.

The Properties dialog box for a tachometer element opens automatically when a new tachometer is created. The Properties dialog box for an existing speedometer can be opened by double-clicking the element on the workspace, selecting "Properties" from the context menu, or selecting "Edit / Properties" from the main menu when the speedometer is selected on the workspace.

General

In the speedometer's Properties dialog box, you'll find the following settings on the "General" tab:

Title

Enter the speedometer title here. You can find information about multilingual titles here.

Template

Here you'll find a total of 9 templates that you can use to select a background image for the speedometer. Select "Custom View" (10) if you want to add your own background image.

Background image

The link to the currently selected background image is displayed here.

Select a background image

Opens the dialog box for selecting an image.

Delete Wallpaper

Deletes the reference to the currently selected background image.

Display text if no record exists

With this setting, text is displayed when no data is available for the speedometer reading.

Use Global Text

The text from the language constant DR_NO_RECORD is used if the "Display text if no record exists" setting is also enabled.

Text to display if no record is found

You can enter your own static text here—including multilingual text.

Speedometer

In the speedometer's Properties dialog box, you'll find the following settings on the "General" tab:

Description

Displayed as a title above the speedometer.

Start Value / End Value

Use this field to set the first and last values of the speedometer scale.

Displayed value

Enter the data field here that provides the values for the speedometer.

Value Description

Here, for example, you can specify the unit of the values. The value description is displayed inside the speedometer.

Scale Divisions

Sets the number of graduations on the scale. At the 6th through the 9th You cannot set the scale divisions using the template found on the "General" tab of the speedometer's Properties dialog box. If one of these templates is selected, this setting is hidden here.

Edit

Opens the corresponding dialog box for editing.

Edit Values

Data field

If the speedometer is located on a view page within a data group, you can select a data field here that provides the data for the display. This is not possible on view pages at the first level of an application.

Static value

You can enter a static value here.

Calculation

You can enter a formula here.

Edit

Opens the formula editor.

System value

This option allows system values to be used as a data source. There are three types to choose from:

Value

Enter the name of the parameter here.

Specification

Used when no value is returned from the system property.

Markings

Markings can be used to color a portion of the scale on the speedometer. Select the desired area and color here.

"From / To" Columns

Display the start and end values of the selection.

"Width in %" column

Displays the width of the highlight as a percentage. This column will not be displayed here if one of the 6 options is selected for the speedometer. through the 9th Templates selected on the "General" tab in the Properties dialog box.

"Color" Column

Displays the color used to fill the selection.

Delete Marking

Deletes the currently selected highlight.

/ Edit Marker

Each one opens a dialog box in which a selection can be created or edited.

Here, you can define the values for a marker on the speedometer.

From / To

The start and end values of the selection are specified here.

Edit Start Value / End Value

Opens a dialog box where you can select the data source for these values.

Width in %

Defines the width of the value range. The width cannot be adjusted if one of the 6 settings is selected for the speedometer. through the 9th Templates selected on the "General" tab in the Properties dialog box.

Color

The hexadecimal color value for the color used to fill the marker is entered here.

Edit Color

Opens a color palette from which you can select a color.

Options

Show XML Labels

Displays the layout properties of the speedometer components from the XML.

Show real names

Displays the names of the individual layout properties of the speedometer.
