FileWalker

With FileWalker, you can give users direct access from their browser to files stored on the network. A FileWalker connection can be used with the "FileWalker" application element.

Filewalker offers an interface similar to Windows Explorer and allows read and write access to shared folders. The relevant files can be included in the portal-wide search. It is also possible to dynamically insert individual path components from the current dataset. For example, this allows you to view documents related to a specific project.

Selecting "FileWalker / Add" from the main menu or using the corresponding context menu opens a wizard where you can create a new FileWalker connection. To do this, the "FileWalker" entry must be selected in the left pane.

Files located in the directory specified here are displayed in the browser by the linked FileWalker application element.

Search

Opens a dialog box where you can select shared directories.

Default Client Path

Enter the directory here so that the client can access it. Since the mapping for client and server access (e.g., in heterogeneous network environments) may differ, a distinction is made between the directory path and the default client path.

Take file permissions for users into account

With this setting, only the files for which the current user has sufficient permissions are displayed.

Enable Search (Create Search Index)

The search index is generated from the files integrated using FileWalker.

Always include in global search

Provides the index for the site-wide search.

Goal Display Style

  • No summary

Only the title, filename, and path are displayed

  • Summary from the document

    Document properties are also displayed

  • Highlight Matches in the Document Text

This setting can result in both higher system load during queries and a larger index, since the file contents must be included in the index.
