File Locations

In the "Integration" module, you can use file storage locations to specify where files uploaded through the portal should be physically stored.

Selecting "Edit / New File Location" from the main menu or using the corresponding context menu opens a wizard where you can create a new file location. To do this, the "File Locations" entry must be selected in the left pane.

New File Location

The alias you enter here can be used to select the file location in applications when you configure a file data field there. You can specify the path below. Simply enter the desired path or click " " and then "Select Folder." This opens a dialog box where you can select a directory.

Insert default path

Automatically inserts the portal directory "internal/files," followed by the placeholder "${appGuid}". The GUID of the application associated with the file location will be inserted in place of ${appGuid} later.

Description

You can enter an explanation of the file location here. You can find information about multilingual descriptions here.

Delete files when a data field is deleted

Deletes all files located in the file location directory as soon as the file data field is cleared in the Application Designer.

Export Files

With this setting, the files in the file location are exported along with the application or portal export.

Please note that while it is possible to change the storage path after the fact, this requires manually moving the files from the old location to the new path.

In more complex applications, for example, multiple applications and data groups might have references to the same storage location. Identifying the files that belong to a given data record is very time-consuming and can now only be done at the database level by checking the references.

When files are moved, the alias that points to the new file location must then be updated in the data field's properties.

Click "Next."

You can test the file location here. You can find more information on this here.

Edit Existing File Locations

In the file location list in the right-hand pane, you'll find not only aliases and paths but also the number of applications that use that file location.

For every newly created portal, the "system" file location is already available in the right-hand pane; this is where files that are not assigned to a file location you have created yourself are managed.

You'll also find the "systemUserImages" folder there, which is the default Intrexx folder for user images.

File locations you have created yourself are also listed in this section. You can edit or remove a file location, or create a new one, by selecting "Edit" from the main menu or using the context menu of a selected file location.

Selecting the "Show Applications menuu item opens a dialog box that provides information about the applications that use the file location.

Applications

This section lists all applications with data groups and data fields that use this file location.
