The " News " application template makes it quick and easy to publish the latest information on the portal. To learn how to import the template, see: Importing Online Application Templates.
Roles
Roles are automatically created when the template is imported.
App_News_User
Members of this role can access the News page, where they can read news articles.
App_News_Editor
Members with this role also have access to the Editorial page, where they can write and publish news articles.
App_News_Manager
Members of this role also have access to the " Administration" page, where they can edit the news categories. In addition, the role includes all permissions from the App_News_User and App_News_Editor roles.

Editorial Staff
On this page, users with the appropriate permissions can post news items.
1. Click Create.
2. Enter the title, teaser, and description .
3. Select a category .
4. Specify the time period during which the news item should appear on the News page. News items that are past their expiration date are automatically archived.
5. If desired, enable the " Display message on portlet" setting.
6. Click Save.
Using the " 
" options menu, you can edit, enter in multiple languages, delete, and archive a news item. Deleted news items are removed from the database and cannot be restored. Archived news items are displayed when you select " Archived " from the drop-down list on the right side of the filter above the news list.
News
You can read all the latest news on the News page. You can also search by terms or categories.
Administration
On this page, users with the appropriate permissions can manage the categories used to filter news on the News page. You can create new categories by clicking " Create ."
1. Enter the category title here and select the language.
2. Enter an ID that can consist of any characters and should be unique. Once saved, the ID cannot be changed.
3. "Read" permission for all makes the news visible to all users of the application. If this setting is disabled, you can select the users for whom the news should be published exclusively.
4. Click Save.
Existing categories can be edited by clicking the " Edit " .
Categories cannot be deleted manually. They must first be disabled. The category is automatically deleted when it is no longer referenced.
Additional language variants can be created for existing categories. This allows the category to be translated into another language. You can find all the information on this topic here: Multilingualism.
Portlet
The News application includes a portlet named " News" that you can embed on any portal page. You can find more information here: Application Portlets.
