Switch tracks and tracks
Track technology
Release tracks are paths for the release of software. They allow for the same software to be provided in different versions, designed to meet different user needs and requirements. For example, by choosing a specific release track, a user can decide whether they prefer new functionality more frequently or a stable version without frequent changes. Release tracks are an important part of the software management process and help to optimize the distribution and maintenance of software.
Since fall 2021, you have been able to choose from two release tracks in Intrexx: the Silent and the Steady Track.
The tracks differ in terms of the frequency in which new features are provided. The Track technology also revolutionizes Intrexx updates. You no longer have to download and install a setup file, but will be informed of a new version directly in Intrexx. Via the Intrexx Download Manager, you can download the update while continuing to work in Intrexx. An Internet connection is required for this. This type of update is already fully implemented in the Steady Track. However, in the Silent Track, you will need to download a setup file from the Support Center in March 2023.

Silent Track and Steady Track
The Intrexx Silent Track values continuity. Throughout the year, you will receive bug fixes only. New features that are already included in the Steady Track are made available to you in March every year. The Intrexx Steady Track focuses on agility. New functions are made available to you on a monthly basis, so that you always have the latest features and can benefit from updates immediately.
Sync time
In March 2023, the Silent Version 2023 will be released on the Silent Track. This version includes all the features that have already been released in Steady Track over the past 12 months. On the release of the Silent Version 2023, the Steady Track and the Silent Track are at the same level and have the same technical version.
If you are currently using the Silent Track and want to keep the Silent Track, you will receive a new Intrexx Silent Track version in March 2023. It contains all the new features that were already available in the Steady Track over the past year.
After the version Silent 2023, it continues as usual on both tracks. The Steady Track will continue to receive new features every month, while the Silent Track will only receive bug fixes. In March 2024, the next Silent Version 2024 will be released.

Further details on the Intrexx Release Tracks can be found in the section Release Tracks - Intrexx Silent Track 11.
Last update according to the old design for the Silent Track
Until now, the Release Track for the Intrexx Silent Track had not yet been fully implemented. This is reflected in the versioning specification. So far, the version "21.03" and a corresponding patch level (online update) are displayed there.
After you have carried out an update for the last time in March 2023 according to the usual design, versioning is carried out the way it has already been done in the Steady Track.
Release versus online update
As is usual in Track technology, you will also receive a new, fully comprehensive Intrexx release for the Silent Track every month, starting in March 2023. However, this only contains bug fixes. The monthly Intrexx releases replace the previous online updates.
Effects on the support of older releases
The release of Silent Version 2023 has no impact on the approach to technical support for older versions. From this perspective, Silent Version 2023 is considered a regular monthly release.
You can already install a test system based on the Intrexx Steady Track now. As usual, you will need a new license after the version has changed. You can obtain this via the License Manager in the Support Center.
