FAQs
General
Since fall 2021, you have been able to choose between two release tracks in Intrexx; The Steady Track and the Silent Track.
This gives you the option of taking two different "paths" for Intrexx. If it is relevant or important for you to receive new features for Intrexx quickly and regularly, the faster path, Intrexx Steady Track, is a good fit. With the Intrexx Steady Track, you will receive new features as soon as they are released.
If continuity is a priority for you and you only want to deal with new features in an annual interval, the slower path, Intrexx Silent Track, is a good fit. Throughout the year, you will only receive bug fixes.
The tracking technology generally facilitates the updating of Intrexx. With track technology, you (no longer) need to download a setup file from the Intrexx Support Center in order to unpack and install it afterwards. Instead, you will see in Intrexx that a new version is available. While this is being downloaded, you can continue working in Intrexx.
Starting in March 2023, Intrexx will receive new features for the Steady Track and bug fixes for the Silent Track on a monthly basis. These features and bug fixes will be delivered in a new Intrexx Silent Version and in an Intrexx Steady Version, respectively. From March 2023, we will no longer speak of "online updates", but of the release of a new Intrexx version.
The Silent and Steady Track will be regularly updated as usual. If the portal has access to the Internet, these are displayed in the Portal Manager on the server and the update can be performed. Future updates will always contain the full range of available technology. Thus, it no longer matters whether you run the update via the manager or whether you manually obtain the current setup and overwrite the installation. You can always obtain the current status of the tracks in the Support Center under the menu item Downloads.
In the case of the Intrexx Silent Track, continuity comes to the fore. Throughout the year, you will only receive bug fixes. You will receive new features once a year only for the Silent version in March.
So if you only want to deal with new features in an annual interval, Silent Track is the right choice for you.
In the case of the Intrexx Steady Track, agility comes to the fore. You will receive new features and bug fixes every month.
If you are interested in new features and want to test and deploy them early, Steady Track is the right choice for you.
You can find out which track you are using in several locations. Two sections are described below.
"Green design" or "Blue design"
Until March 2023, the two tracks will differ in terms of the dominant color of the graphical interface.
Silent Track
The Silent Track has a "Green Design".
Steady Track
The Steady Track has a "Blue Design".
After the update to the Intrexx Silent Version 2023 in March, both tracks will have the "Blue Design".

If you are currently using the Steady Track, you can set the desired Release Track like this:
Click on "Extras" in the main menu.
Select "Server software update settings".
The "Software update settings" dialog box is displayed.
Select the "Steady" or the "Silent" option.
If you select the "Silent" option, you will only receive updates, i.e. bug fixes for the Silent Track, from sync time in March 2023.
Click on "OK".

All portals will need new licenses from March 2023. After successful registration, you can apply for these in the Support Center under the menu item "Licenses". Regardless of the new licensing model, all existing customers will continue to receive portal, user and application licenses as usual.
If you want to continue using the Silent Track.
If you would like to continue using the Silent Track in March 2023, download the setup file provided there from the Intrexx Support Center and perform the update as usual.
If you continue to use the Silent Track, you will get all the features developed over the past year that were previously only available in the Steady Track.
The new versions will be available in March 2023, from which time you will be able to preview the update on your test and development systems.
If you want to test the update before March, you can do so with the currently available Steady Track. Both the Silent and Steady Track versions will comply with this status. The only adjustments that remain open are those that are still being made in the Steady Track, between the start of testing and the release date in March.
If you use the Silent Track and would like to test the update in advance, you can switch to the Steady Track now, test the changes, and switch back to the Silent Track on the official release of the Intrexx Silent version in March. There will be no pre-release or similar of the Intrexx Silent version before March. If you want to perform an early test, you have to go back to the Silent Track via the Steady Track.
