Overview

The path to multi-factor authentication in Intrexx

Step 1: Deploy multi-factor authentication by administrators

We start with the configuration and activation of the authentication method in the Intrexx portal. The following steps must be carried out for provisioning:

  • To provide the authentication method, the user must fulfill the following criteria:

    • He must be a member of the "Administrators" user group

    • A password must be stored for the user

  • The administrative user (hereinafter referred to as "administrator") configures one or more authentication methods for multi-factor authentication in the portal properties of the portal. A description can be found in the section "Administrator: Providing multi-factor authentication".

Step 2: Activation of an authentication method by portal users

In the second step, at least one of the authentication methods offered must be configured by the portal user to activate multi-factor authentication. The following steps must be carried out for the configuration:

  • When accessing the portal in the browser, the "Multi-factor application" is available in the system settings under the "Security" entry.

Note: This system application is only available in the browser and not in the "Applications" module!

  • At least one (and optionally several) of the authentication methods offered must be configured there by the portal user.

Restrictions

When updating to Intrexx 12.1.0, please note that due to the adjustments for multi-factor authentication, access to a portal with 12.1.0 is only possible with a manager of the same version (12.1.0). Furthermore, older portals can no longer be accessed with the Manager version 12.1.0.
