Update from Intrexx Silent Track 21.03 to Intrexx Steady Track

Below is a description of how to update from Intrexx Silent Track 21.03 to Intrexx SteadyTrack. This assumes that you will install 2023 and Intrexx SteadyTrack in the same directory where you installed Intrexx Silent Track 21.03 ("overlay installation").

For this update, this is the last time you will need to download a setup file from Intrexx Support Center and then run setup.exe or setup.sh.

Future updates for the Intrexx Steady Track will be delivered using a new process. If updates are available, you will be notified via a message window in Portal Manager. You can download the update while continuing to work. You can then install the update. During the installation period, your portal will be unavailable to portal users. 2023 and Intrexx Steady Track each check for updates to the Intrexx Download Manager at startup.

Test System
First, perform the update on a test system. Please also note that production systems and test and development systems should be deployed on separate Intrexx Portal servers.

Download the setup for Intrexx Steady Track

Download the Intrexx Steady Track installation package from Intrexx Support Center under "Intrexx Downloads > Intrexx Releases > Steady Track." Unzip the installation package.

Update the existing installation from March 21 to Intrexx Steady Track

Step-by-Step

  1. Run the setup.exe file as an administrator ("Right-click > Run as administrator").
    The Intrexx Setup welcome dialog appears.

  2. Click "Next."

    The dialog box containing the license terms appears.

  3. Accept the terms of the license agreement.

  4. Click "Next."

    This will take you to the "Installation Path" dialog box.

  5. Select the directory where you have already installed Intrexx as the installation directory.

  6. Click "Next."

    This will take you to the "Installation" dialog box.

    There are numerous changes in the "Installation" dialog box.

    Until now, you could change the installation path in this dialog box. That is no longer possible.

    When installing the packages—2023 and Intrexx Steady Track —you havethe option to install the Intrexx Administration API as well.

    The settings for configuring the portal server are no longer required, since 2023 andIntrexx Steady Track no longer includethe Supervisor.

    In 2023 and Intrexx Steady Track , the Intrexx Portal Serverauthenticates itself with the Solr search server using a username and password. This has not been the case in the standard up to now.

    Software updates in 2023 and Intrexx Steady Track are performedusing a new method. This is configured in Portal Manager.

    Administration API

    During the installation of 2023 and Intrexx Steady Track , youcan also install the "Intrexx Administration API."

    For detailed information on the "Intrexx Administration API," see the Intrexx Administration API section.

    a. Click "Packages to Install" if you want to install the Administration API.

    This will take you to the "Select Components" dialog box.

    b. Enable "Intrexx Administration API".

    c. Click "Finish."

    Apache Solr Search Server

    In 2023 and Intrexx Steady Track , the Intrexx Portal Serverauthenticates itself with the Solr search server using a username and password.

    For detailed information on configuring the "Apache Solr Search Server," see the " Solr Search Server" section, among others.

    a. Click "Apache Solr Search Server."

    The "Solr Configuration" dialog box appears.

    b. Change the password.

    c. Click "OK."

  7. Click "Start."

    This takes you to the "Update Notes" dialog box.

    Read and acknowledge the update notes.
    Be sure to create a backup before performing the update.

  8. Click "OK."

    This will take you to the "Installation" dialog box.

    During installation, the "Patch the Portals" dialog box appears.

    Existing portals will be updated or patched to the new Intrexx version.

  9. Click "OK" as soon as the button becomes active.

    You will be taken back to the "Installation" dialog box.

  10. Click "Finish" as soon as the button becomes active.

    You will be taken to the "Finish Installation" dialog box.

    The available portals and their corresponding ports are displayed at the bottom of the dialog box.
    Make a note of the ports.

    Or

    Copy the portal information to the clipboard by clicking the " " icon. Next, paste the information from the clipboard into an editor. The information might look something like this:

    In 2023 and Intrexx Steady Track , youmust know a portal's port in order to connect to it via the Portal Manager.

  11. Click "Finish."

    If you have selected the "Start Intrexx Portal Manager" checkbox, Intrexx will restart.
