How to operate Intrexx
Intrexx Platform as a Service (PaaS)
In this variant, INTREXX GmbH takes over the operation of the portal server and the portals operated on it and the entire infrastructure required for this. All the components for this deployment are hosted in a German data center.
With the PaaS option, you do not need to worry about installation. All updates are carried out by INTREXX GmbH. You also don't need to purchase and operate third-party software and can focus entirely on developing solutions for your business.
Intrexx as a container deployment
You can also run Intrexx as a (Docker) container. To run Intrexx as a Docker container, use the official Intrexx Docker image, which already contains all the necessary packages and resources. You can orchestrate this with Kubernetes, for example, or on a virtual machine with Docker Compose. The container version enables quick and easy Intrexx deployment, either in your local infrastructure or with a cloud provider of your choice. You also have the option of backing up the configuration of your deployment and restoring an identical deployment at any time ("Infrastructure as Code").
You can operate Intrexx-Docker containers in a Windows or Linux system environment.
Classic Setup - On-Premises
You can also install Intrexx on your local infrastructure or in your (own) cloud using a classic setup. In this case, download the Intrexx setup files from Intrexx Support Center and then carry out the installation.
With the on-premises version, you are responsible for installing, operating and updating your Intrexx instance.
If you opt for the on-premises version, it is recommended that you familiarize yourself with the architecture of Intrexx. In addition to the installation of Intrexx, you also need third-party software such as a database system and a web server to operate Intrexx.
You can operate Intrexx in a Windows or Linux system environment.
For each option, a basic understanding of the two central components of Intrexx, the Intrexx Portal Server and the Intrexx Portal Manager, and their interaction is helpful. This is described in the following section Intrexx Components - Portal Server and Portal Manager.
