The barriers that people with disabilities face when using portal or application sites can be grouped according to the impairments that people may have. Generally, this is based on impairments related to vision and hearing and limitations in motor skills and cognition. (Refer also to the section Types of limitations)
Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, Robust
Another way to systematize the issue of accessibility is to name and group the measures to overcome barriers. This is the approach taken by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), which has produced multiple guidelines for accessible web content. These guidelines are divided into four principles: Perceivable, Operable, Understandable and Robust.
