Generate CSR (Certificate Signing Request) without a front-end web server

If you selected "No front-end web server" when setting up the front-end web server, you can create a CSR (Certificate Signing Request) directly via the dialog. A CSR is the preliminary stage of an SSL certificate and is required to apply for an SSL certificate from a certification authority.

Step-by-step guide

Proceed as follows to generate a CSR (Certificate Signing Request):

  1. Open the dialog for configuring the front-end web server.

    The dialog is displayed while a new portal is being created.

    OR

    The dialog can be opened at any time via the portal properties.

    The value "No front-end web server" must be selected in the "Type" field.

  2. Click on Create a request file (CSR) here. (The text is colored blue when you place the mouse over it)

  3. The "Certificate data" dialog box (1) is displayed.

    Enter the following information for the CSR:

    • Host (CN - Common Name)

    • Organizational Unit (OU)

    • Organization (O - Organization)

    • Location (L - Locality)

    • State (ST - State or Province)

    • Country (C - Country)

      Optional properties

    • Subject Alternative Names

      Enter each Alternative Name on its own line.

  4. Click on "Next".

    The "Certificate data" dialog box (2) is displayed.

  5. Click on the icon ().

    A window is displayed in which you can specify the name and storage location of the CSR file.

  6. Click on the icon ().

    A window is displayed in which you can specify the name and storage location of the keystore file.

  7. Enter the password for the keystore file.

  8. Click on "Finish".

    You are taken back to the dialog box for configuring the front-end web server.
