Backup

In the following section you will find general information on data backup in connection with Intrexx.

Snapshots for VMs

In the simplest version, your Intrexx Server is based on a VM solution and you can therefore create snapshots as required. This is particularly recommended in the case of an update (software update) or an upgrade (version change). Should a problem occur in these cases, you can quickly and easily reset the entire system and thus your data.

Software for data backup

You should also use a tried-and-tested solution to back up your data. Talk to your IT department about this. Professional data backup is essential. The Intrexx server (the portal directory), the database server and all external file storage locations must be backed up. It is important that the database, Intrexx and the file repositories have the same status. To do this, it must be ensured that no changes are made to Intrexx or the database between backups. Depending on the data backup system, it may also be necessary to terminate the Intrexx services in advance so that the backup system can access all data.

Portal export

A portal export from Intrexx is not a data backup. Nevertheless, it is recommended to have portal exports created time-controlled in addition to the data backup, as depending on the situation, a reset of the entire system (Intrexx server, database server and any data servers) may not be possible or may not be necessary.

Summary

Depending on the situation, different restore options are required.

Create regular full backups of the entire system for a sustainable backup of your data and your Intrexx portal. Protect current statuses from online updates or upgrades with fast and efficient snapshots. Record application statuses, process versions or layouts using Intrexx exports in order to be able to access functional versions. Create regular portal exports for emergencies; these can be helpful if necessary.
